Preview terms

These terms cover the private preview of Lighter Journeys, run by Chris Harris. By using the preview you agree to them. If your organization has signed an order form with us, that order form and the terms it names take priority over this page wherever they differ. Questions: chris@lighterjourneys.com.

A preview, provided as is

Lighter Journeys is early software. Features, limits and results will change, the service may be unavailable at times, and we may end the preview. It is provided as is, without warranties, and to the extent the law allows we are not liable for losses from using it. Keep your own copies of recordings that matter to you. You can download the original video from each recording's page.

Results are experimental

Effort scores, sentiment and other measures are experimental indicators for comparing sessions of the same task. They are not validated measures of workload, performance or wellbeing, and should not be used to make decisions about individuals.

Your content

You keep ownership of your recordings, notes, support requests and ratings. You give us permission to store and process them to provide Lighter Journeys to you, and to run, fix and improve it, as the privacy page describes.

Whether your data may also be used to train AI models depends on your workspace's training setting: Training allowed or No training, as the privacy page explains. Nothing has been used for training so far. Before that changes, we will update these terms and tell workspace admins at least 30 days ahead.

Apart from uploads with no screen recording, which we delete 7 days after we tell you, we keep the video file of each recording for 90 days after upload, or until 90 days after a Founding Insider or Design Partner term ends, and then delete it. Reports, scores, findings and transcripts stay. The privacy page has the details.

Acceptable use

• Upload only recordings you have the right to share, with consent from anyone in them.
• Do not upload unlawful content or content that infringes others' rights.
• Do not upload recordings that show or contain health or medical information, payment card or bank account numbers, government ID numbers, passwords or other sign-in secrets, or personal information about children. Use test data, or close or hide that information before you record.
• Do not try to get around usage limits, access other workspaces, or disrupt the service.

We may suspend access that breaks these terms.

Pricing

The preview is free unless your organization has signed an order form with us. If it has, the order form sets the price, the term, payment, renewal, cancellation and refunds. We will not charge anyone without a signed order form, and we will tell you before any other paid plan starts.

Every minute you upload counts, even if we don't find a screen recording in it. An upload with no screen recording counts as one analysis, because checking for a screen is work we do first. If you think we got that wrong, contact support and we will waive it.
